Mrs. Stone’s Class Classroom Newsletter April 10, 2017 Dates to Remember What Are We Learning? Math – (1.OA.6) I can add and subtract within 20. ELA – (1.RF.4b) I can read aloud first grade books with accuracy and expression. (1.RF.4c) I can use reading strategies to know or self-correct words. (1.RL.1a) I can answer questions about details in a story. (1.RL.1b) I can ask questions about details in a story. Social Studies – (1.E.1.1) I can describe different ways in which people use their money to buy goods and services. I can understand the hiring process of a business to incur costs. I can understand how a business builds revenue. I can understand that money is earned through working for various businesses. I can determine the difference in income and money. I can explain why people choose certain jobs or careers. Attitudes: Empathy One of the 12 attitudes that we have learned this year is empathy. Empathy is to be able to imagine yourself in another person’s situation, in order to understand his or her emotions, so as to be open-minded and reflective about the perspective of others. Apr. 10th – Day 2 (Spanish & Art) Apr. 11th – Day 3 (Music) Book Fair Family Night @ 5:00-6:30 pm Apr. 12th – Day 4 Zootastic Field Trip Chick-Fil-A Night 5:00-8:00 pm Apr.13th – Day 1 (PE) Last Day of Good News Club School Store Apr.14th – NO SCHOOL ***Spring Break is April 14th-23rd*** ***Your child will need 12 filled plastic eggs and a basket on April 11, 2017. If you have not sent in your eggs, pleas do so by MONDAY.*** Spanish Word of the Week: Prestar atención – Pay attention Letterland: No Spelling the Week of April 10th 13th There will not be a spelling test the week of April 10th due to the 4 day week and having a field trip. Spelling Pretest will be sent home on Thursday, April 13th. Our spelling test will be Unit 26 and the test date will be April 28th. ***If you read this newsletter, please e-mail me and tell me the answer to “Where does the Easter Bunny eat breakfast?" Book Fair Book Fair week is Friday, April 7th - Thursday, April 13th. The Book Fair will be open Friday-Wednesday 7:00-3:00pm, Thursday from 7:00-12:00pm, and on Tuesday night, April 11th from 5:00pm-6:30pm. No book checkout during Book Fair week.   Parents please put your child's Book Fair money in a sealed  envelope marked "Book Fair" with the amount written on it.  All purchases are subject to a tax rate of 6.75% and checks should be made payable to "Coddle Creek PTO".
