A mind map is a diagram used to visually organize information. It is useful for ORGANISING your ideas and notes for an essay or a project. It can help you CONNECT different ideas. It is a really helpful way to REVISE. You can use it for taking NOTES too.

How to create a Mind Map

PUT YOUR TITLE IN THE CENTRE AND THEN CREATE A “BRANCH” FOR EACH MAIN IDEA OR SUBSECTION, USING KEY WORDS. USING DIFFERENT COLOURS MAKES IT EASIER TO SPOT THE DIFFERENT IDEAS AND HELPS YOU REMEMBER THEM BETTER.

Now add more detail by adding smaller branches with extra information.

Add pictures – helps you find and remember different ideas

MAKE THE STYLE YOUR OWN – So far we know to: Put the title in the centre Have a branch for each main idea Make each branch a different colour Add smaller branches to carry more details Use pictures to help you find and remember information NEW TIP: MAKE THE STYLE YOUR OWN – LOOK AT THESE DIFFERENT EXAMPLES

SO Now you’ve seen lots of examples, here are a few different ways to sum up building a mindmap.....

So remember to Put the title in the centre Have a branch for each main idea Make each branch a different colour Add smaller branches to carry more details Use pictures to help you find and remember information Make the style your own – you’ll understand and remember it better
