Abortion Today- part 2 Chip Ingram: Culture Shock Teammates May 27, 2018 Lee Bennett

Review & Introduction Did you hear anything new last week, from Chip Ingram or from others, that surprised you? Have you been able to use any of the material we have covered thus far in this series?

Examining Evidence from the biblical design Premise #1-All life is sacred; human life is the most precious commodity in the world Value by creation and design Value by protection afforded Value by cost Premise #2-Scripture affords the same sacred value on the pre-born baby as with all other human life

Warnings from personal experience The Pro-Abortion Camp The Pro-Life Camp

Abortion isn’t political, it’s moral Finding forgiveness and hope-I Jn. 1:9 Taking responsibility-Prov. 24:11-12 Setting limits-Rom. 13:1-7 Acting in love-Eph. 4:15-18

Play Chip’s message

Table Talk #1 What was most helpful from Chip’s teaching today? How would you “lovingly” express your convictions if someone asked you what you believed concerning abortion? How would you support your conviction (light, not heat)?

Table Talk #2 Chip said that our methods must match our message. What are appropriate ways for Christians to get involved and voice their concerns? About which of the 4 applications, that Chip shared, do you lean toward using in your own life and ministry?

4 Application Steps Experiencing forgiveness & hope yourself, then sharing it with others who are suffering Asking yourself, ‘What can I do to help?’ Could I volunteer at a crisis pregnancy center? Setting limits to what you say & do Seeking to speak the transforming truth in love

For reflection Chip said the Bible is full of people whom God loved deeply, but who still made big mistakes. God forgave them, cleansed them and used them. When someone you know falls into sin, what can you do to help bring healing and help? If you fell into sin, what would you want your friends to say and do to help you?

Next week Mark Gottlieb will be leading a two week series on “The Church and the Environment.” The story of Tony & Cheri Huffer, Keith & Lisa Hindsley: “Intrusion”
