Mini-Book Foldable Directions

Step One Give the students at least 4 blank half sheets of copy paper. At your discretion, you may want to include more sheets, depending on the style of your book. Four half sheets will accommodate 12 characters including a table of contents.

Step Two Half Sheet 1 Using only ONE half sheet, fold it as shown.

Step Three Half Sheet 1 After folding, using the same sheet, measure and mark ¾ of an inch on both ends of the spine.

Step Four Half Sheets 2-4 Using the remaining half sheets, fold as shown above.

Step Five Half Sheets 2-4 After folding, using the remaining half sheets, measure and mark 1 inch on both ends of the spine.

Step Six Half Sheet 1 Using the folded and marked half sheet 1, cut a small slit from mark to mark as shown above.

Step Seven Half Sheets 2-4 Using the folded and marked half sheets 2-4, cut a small slit from each end to the mark as shown above.

Step Eight Half Sheet 1 Half Sheets 2-4 Gently roll half sheets 2-4 through the slit of half sheet 1. Carefully unroll half sheets 2-4 where the slits ease into half sheet 1.

Step Nine Social Reformers of the 19th Century Have the students label the cover and decorate with a drawing.

Step 10 Students can number their pages and make a Table of Contents. This book can be adjusted to your liking. Add more half sheets or use full sheets depending on your needs.
