The Way of the Day Week 2 - Friday New Beginnings

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, The Sign of the Cross In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

"Catholic schools and colleges have always been at the heart of the life of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Lancaster. Oftentimes these church properties were built by the pennies of poor parishioners and used as the first parish place of worship “ long before a church building was constructed.” -from Bishop Michaels address to Schools at the beginning of the new academic year.

It is said that actions speak louder than words It is said that actions speak louder than words. So, why would hard working men and women sacrifice money, time and effort to build catholic schools for their children and grandchildren? Surely because they believed that faith was as precious, more precious even, than all the other important things they wanted their children to learn. They wanted their sons and daughters to know and follow Jesus in school as well as in their homes and parish.

Today, parents may have a wider range of motives for choosing a catholic school one thing is certain, they all want the very best for you. Whatever your convictions perhaps you are a believer, perhaps not, perhaps the claims of Jesus are something you have not considered your time at St. Joseph’s is a unique opportunity: Jesus gently invites you to know him better and to consider his claims and teachings seriously.

Prayer Lord Jesus, we thank you for the foundation of our school all those years ago. Bless all who have passed through this place and bless us now as we make our own journey, may we benefit from everything this school offers including the opportunity to come to know you better. Amen We can pause for a moment in silence to invite God into our hearts and to ask Him to show us the love that Jesus has for us.

Our Lady Queen of Peace, pray for us We pray together: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death. Amen. Our Lady Queen of Peace, pray for us St Joseph, pray for us.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, The Sign of the Cross In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
