Tonight’s Program: Overview Purpose Juniors Sophomores What’s to come?
JUNIORS Juniors- what are you thinking about? Where should you be at this point? Make a family appointment to see your counselor! Visit Colleges. Testing? ACT or SAT? Prep…What’s your plan? Work hard in the classroom and out. Ask teachers for recommendations this spring (max. 2) Develop a testing/application/visit time-line with your counselor and parents. Attend pre-summer meeting for juniors with counselors
SOPHOMORES Start to investigate schools and get to know yourself better. Use Naviance to discover more about your interests, your skills and careers- “Road Trip Nation!” and “Strengths Explorer” Continue to strengthen as a student: academics are important! Think ahead about opportunities to take advanced classes, considering that balance will be important! Attend meeting for 10th grade parents and students on March 6th at 7pm-(new date) Continue to stay involved in extra curricular activities while developing leadership potential in some. Have fun! Plan ahead for college visits, testing and prep for testing. Take a practice or mock SAT or ACT by the end of the year. Mock SAT’s and ACT’s offered at MHS through Applerouth/PTSA. The PreACT, April 28th.
