Plant Structure Chapter 12

The Flowering Plant Flowering plants consist of a shoot and a root. The shoot consists of the stem, leaves, buds and flower

The Root The function of the root are: To anchor the plant in the ground To absorb water and minerals from the soil To store food

The Stem The Functions of the stem: Supports the leaves and flowers Transports water and minerals up and down the plant

The Leaf The functions of the leaf: To produce food and Oxygen by the process of photosynthesis To allow the exchange of gases To lose water vapour

The Flower The Flower is for reproduction. It contains the male and female sex organs that make seeds.
