Begin to develop a partnership plan for delivering and supporting SD induction and preparation for the training year Tremaine Baker t.baker@mdx.ac.uk

What happened with induction in 2014-15? Mixed picture Pre-induction, Start of term induction, University induction, Late September induction Limited cohesion Across the partnership, across alliances and between school based and university induction

What happened with induction in 2014-15? School induction University induction Show separate circles for delivering induction and preparing trainees for SD programme. Reinforce idea that approach varied this year and in particular there seemed to be little clarity on when induction took place and what should be covered.

Good practice for 2015-16 Summer Term Pre- Induction (School based) September 2015 School Induction Term 1 16th & 17th Sept 2015 University Induction

Issues for joint planning 2015-16 What should be covered in induction? Which aspects of induction should be covered in schools, university or by both? When might school-based induction take place, and what might it look like? Introduce general issues to be considered for the planning of induction in 2015-16

How can we improve the preparation of SD trainees to the programme? Agree some of the core induction requirements (2015-16) Possible school/alliance based pre- induction supported by Middlesex Meet the mentors Pre-course tasks (SK enhancement, Subject Audit, ATS Initial etc.)

How can we improve the preparation of SD trainees to the programme? Overlap provision of university/ school induction. School BOTH University

Joint planning 2015-16 Use the cards and post-its to consider: What are the core elements of induction training? What elements should be delivered by schools, university or both?

How can we improve the preparation of SD trainees to the programme? School When? What? University induction 16-17th Sept What? BOTH What? What are the core elements of induction training?

How can we improve the preparation of SD trainees to the programme? Review other groups models to what extent is there agreement on: The core elements of induction training Which elements should be delivered by schools, university or both

Reflections from the partnership In groups reflect on today’s session : Share ideas Raise questions Note down key points
