Need for change? Many centres felt the unit was over assessed. ASP cumbersome. Excessive use of remediation and re-assessment.

New Unit Specification Outcomes Design and create a spreadsheet to meet the needs of a business. Apply statistical functions and present information in an appropriate format. Present spreadsheet data in graphical format and evaluate information.

Changes Outcome 1 – introduction of wide range of functions as possibility for assessment rather than 2 mandatory functions. Outcomes 2 and 3 – swapped. Allows learner to evaluate the whole assessment rather than just the charts .

Assessment Holistic understanding of why functions are used to solve complex problems. Fewer instructions to learners leading to more use of problem solving.
