What to expect: All RNs hired new to the organization will attend STRIDE RNs will participate in STRIDE during their orientation, typically STRIDE will be offered bi-monthly Registration will occur automatically as part of the NEO process, the RN will be notified during NEO of the course date and times Pre-course Work: Participants will be assigned a single short module in HOLLIE to prepare for the courses Participants will also read Josie’s Story by Sorrel King Up to 4 hours of paid time will be offered if needed to complete pre course work)
Program includes 4 courses over 2 days Patient-Centered Care (2 hours) Handout activity completed prior to the class, discuss potential safety concerns specific to participants department Patient safety, case review, & root cause analysis exercise Hand-off Communication (2 hours) Effective communication technique, role-play, & medication errors Collaboration with Gary Harrison to ensure association with Hospital quality measures
Culture of Safety (2.5 hours) Day 2 Culture of Safety (2.5 hours) Reporting of medical errors & just culture Kathy Early will be presenting on Holland Hospital based cases and standard processes for reporting Mistake-proofing Care (1.5 hours) Second victim & life lessons application from Josie’s story Mistake-proofing care strategies
