Time What is your time limit? Allow ~1 minute per slide Keep it moving! Allow time for questions
Slide Density Don’t try to fit everything on one slide Use slides like note cards Type in phrases Keep it simple
Pictures Use pictures that illustrate your point Line them up! They don’t necessarily have to be a picture of what you’re talking about Line them up!
Organization Use an ‘Overview’ slide to help get yourself organized Use the bullets on that slide as headings of other slides Think of the presentation like you’re telling a story
Charisma Let your personality shine through You want your presentation to stand out from the others
Practice Beforehand Make note cards for yourself You can stop when your presentation is perfect … which is never, so keep practicing!
Nerves Pretend the audience is in their underwear Look for your “grandma’s”, which are friendly faces in the crowd
Body Language Avoid hiding behind the podium Speak confidently The audience will focus on you if you move from behind the podium Voice intonation Avoid monotone speech
