Berkeley City College Leader college in the adoption of OER Active in expanding adoption of OER at BCC and Peralta ASCCC OER Task Force Zero Textbook Cost Degree Planning Grant AB 798 grant recipient (first round)

College of Alameda COA was awarded the Zero Textbook Cost Degree Grant in the amount of $150,000 for 2018 COA is implementing a Mathematics AS-T using open educational resources (OER) and zero-cost options to develop the applicable course materials and curriculum, and working on the following: Establishing sustainability after grant funding is exhausted, including how content is updated and presented. Recruiting and training new instructors in the use of OER and zero-cost materials. Revising policies and reallocating faculty course assignments in support of the ZTCD Program. Continuing to pursue additional funding sources. Ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (Public Law 104-197) and the Copyright Act of 1976 (Public Law 94-553).

Laney College Various faculty are using OER materials Dean who led the work recently left; new dean is well versed in OER and plans to continue the work

Merritt College Implemented AB 798 grant during AY 2017-18; information sessions held on campus flex days. Developed OER adoptions in approximately 30 sections; various disciplines Initiated an incentive program to encourage "early adopters" "Off the shelf adoptions" not compensated; partial curations funded at $250/course; full curations funded at $500/course; faculty were not compensated for reviewing/writing up OER texts/ancillary materials. Committee members had varying viewpoints concerning philosophy/implementation of funding. Early adopters were assisted by Merritt's researchers/librarians
