Reflection: when a wave hits a surface and bounces back Law of Reflection: the angle of incidence = the angle of reflection

Refraction: when a wave enters a new medium at an angle, one side changes speed before the other… causing it to bend Waves move through different mediums at different speeds.

Refraction examples

Diffraction: when waves bend and spread out around barriers or through openings

Interference: when two waves meet there is an interaction. Constructive vs. Destructive (the crests add up) (the crests cancel out)

Constructive vs. Destructive

Resonance: an increase in the amplitude of a vibration when the external disturbance matches the object’s natural frequency. Constructive Interference
