Writing about Teaching Description is called for when prompts ask for “what” happened during a learning experience. Analysis is called for when prompts ask for the “how,” “why,” or “in what way” a learning experience was or was not successful. Reflection is called for when prompts ask “how” you would handle a learning experience in the future. This may also require analysis of the experience.

REFLECTION: What is the big deal? Reflection requires us to think about what we are doing, why we are doing it, what the outcomes are, and how this information can be used for our continuous improvement. (McLaughlin & Vogel, 1998)

What is Reflection? Improves and informs teaching practice Identifies successes and challenges Demonstrates what a teacher has learned about a teaching experience http://office.microsoft.com
