Presentation transcript:

Psalm 34:17-20, 22 17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all. 20 He guards all his bones; not one of them is broken. 22 The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, and none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.

“Various Trials” “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials” (James 1:2). “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:6-7). The Bible makes it abundantly clear that Christians will experience “various trials” in this life for one reason or another.

“Various Trials” Financial Hardship Marriage Problems A Wayward Child Illness and Disease The Loss of a Loved One Persecution for the Faith So what are some of those “various trials” that we shall encounter?

In the Hour of Trial 1 Peter 1:6 The last number of months it seems that there have been a growing number of friends and brethren that are experiencing very difficult trials and hardships in their life. My heart and prayers go out to them. But what is an individual to do in the hour of trial? 1 Peter 1:6

In the Hour of Trial Remember to worship and praise God. Job 1:20-22; 2 Samuel 12:15-20; Prov. 3:5-6 Remember that God cares for you. Job 10:12; Psalm 142:1-7; 1 Peter 5:6-7 1st point – The faithful turn to God in the hour of trial, not away from Him. 2nd point – Remember Who is on your side (Rom. 8:31-39).

In the Hour of Trial Remember to pray. Psalm 34:17-19; 55:16-18; Phil. 4:6-7; Heb. 4:16; James 5:16-18; Luke 18:1 Remember to meditate in the Scriptures. Ps. 119:49-50, 81, 92, 114, 147; Rom. 15:4

In the Hour of Trial Remember your brethren care for you. Rom. 12:15; 1 Cor. 12:25-26; 2 Cor. 1:3-4; Gal. 6:2; 1 Thess. 5:11, 14 Remember this world is not your home. Heb. 11:13-16; 2 Cor. 4:16-18; Phil. 3:20-21

In the Hour of Trial Remember the hope set before you. Col. 1:3-5; Heb. 6:17-20; 1 Thess. 4:13; 5:8

In the Hour of Trial Remember to worship and praise God. Remember that God cares for you. Remember to pray. Remember to meditate in the Scriptures. Remember your brethren care for you. Remember this world is not your home. Remember the hope set before you. In the hour of trial…God is still in control. Submit to Him and depend on Him (Heb. 13:5-6). God loves you and will always care for you. He will see you through every trial in this life, and will grant you an abundant entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
