Welcome to PlayMounds. Reshaping the landscape of playgrounds. You may have seen mounds in play areas. You may have even specified building a mound in a playground project. It was probably made using concrete and covered in pour-in-place or synthetic grass. It’s also probably an unforgiving surface. It’s heavy, took a lot of valuable time to set and install, and if you need to reconfigure the play area—well that mound isn’t anywhere. So plan to design around it.

We wanted to innovate in this market and create a better alternative. We wanted to build a product that lasts a long time, is easier to install and is flexible enough to adapt to the changing needs of your project. Above all, we wanted to build a structure that was safer—and more fun—to play on. PlayMounds were designed with those three goals in mind— fun, safety, and durability. Through research and experimentation we’ve achieved just that.

We developed our mound from the ground up. Our mounds and structures are built with expanded polystyrene, or EPS foam. We’ve covered them with a ½ layer of protective foam which builds in fall height and heat protection. The foam construction has a high compressive rate, so if it gets indented or warped, it will bounce back to form.

It’s safe in the Sun. When designing our mounds, we realized that concrete has one advantage over foam—it’s surely going to keep it’s shape during those spring and summer days when the sun is beating at full power.   We found that our dual-layer construction not only provides fall protection but it also prevents our foam from melting or distorting under high heat. This layer of flexibility allows us to offer the strength and durability of a concrete mound in a much more kid-friendly package.

Our Mounds are durable, but easily repaired if damaged If somehow your mound gets damaged, repair is easy. Just call your dealer with the dimensions of the damaged area, and we’ll send you a foam patch. Just cut out the damaged area of your mound, place the replacement patch and fill it in with expandable spray foam, easily purchased in any hardware store. Two minutes later, your mound is like brand new!

Face it. Kids fall at playgrounds all the time. Our mounds meet fall height safety requirements.

We know kids love to climb, especially at playgrounds. The thought of them falling and hurting themselves on a concrete mound set us along the path of developing our foam mounds. If you child falls on one of our mounds, they’ll be safe. PlayMounds protective foam layering works using similar design principles of a high-end motorcycle helmet. Our foam mound is firm to the touch but flexes on impact, so your kids can climb and crawl at will, and if they fall and roll down the hill, the foam will transfer the impact, providing support the whole way down.

PlayMounds are light-weight and easy to install PlayMounds is simple to install and requires no special tools or machinery. Our mounds typically weigh around two hundred pounds and ship in several pieces. Simply fuse the pieces together using the included expandable spray foam, let it cure for 2 minutes, lift and place the mound and you’re done! Our mounds won’t blow away in the wind and don’t need secured however we’ve included mounting posts. Just secure the posts in the holes on the bottom of the mound and place into the ground and your mound will stay put.

Once your mound is installed, it’s easy to cover. If you’re covering your mound in artificial turf, just use the included template to cut your turf to fit. Lay down the turf with the bottom facing up and place the template on top. Make your cuts along the template and you’ll have a perfectly cut patch of turf to place over your PlayMounds.
