Jonah lived in a time that was know as the divided kingdom Jonah lived in a time that was know as the divided kingdom. (II Kings 14) Amaziah was in in Judah and Jeroboam was in in the Jonah means Dove (Holy Spirit) He is the son of Amittai (Truth) He is a picture of Jesus Christ (Matt. 12:39)

And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?

The kings of Nineveh were famous for wiping out whole cities and making pyramids with the skulls of the people They would damn up rivers with there bones of the people they would conquer Would burn down cities with the women and children still in them They would cut the hand off of the kings they conquered and nail them to the walls while their bodies were left to the wild dogs
