MIGRATION CHAPTER 11

MIGRATION Migration refers to the movement of people from one area to another. Geographers usually divide reasons for migration into “push” and “pull” factors.

What are some examples of “push” factors? Oppression – religious or political Poverty Political conflicts - war Environmental factors – famine, drought, floods, fires Forced Migration – slave trade
