S I N: Pitting Ourselves AGAINST God All sin is against God because it violates His law. Sin is hostile action against God! If we are on God’s side, we must be against sin. 1 John 3:4

Sinning AGAINST God Sin is AGAINST GOD because it violates His law (1 John 3:4) Old Testament examples include… Sexual sins (Genesis 39:9; 13:13; 2 Samuel 12:13; Psalm 51:4) Israel’s rebellion (Numbers 16:11; Deut. 9:7, 16, 24; 31:27; 20:18; Joshua 7:20; Jeremiah 3:13, 25; 8:14; 40:3; 44:23) Lack of concern for the spiritual well-being of others (1 Samuel 12:23)

Sinning AGAINST God Sin is HOSTILE ACTION toward God! It is “offense toward God” (Acts 24:16) It is “enmity” (Romans 8:7; James 4:4) Sin is serious! (Proverbs 14:9)

Whose side are you on? There must be a clear difference between the enemies of the cross and the soldiers of the cross! (Philippians 3:17-20) We who were “once enemies” have been reconciled to God! We must be steadfast in the faith! (Colossians 1:21- 22) Let us strive “AGAINST SIN” (Hebrews 12:3-4)
