Earth Day 2014

When Real world – April 22nd PVHS – April 15th Earth Day 2014 When Real world – April 22nd PVHS – April 15th

Earth Day 2014 What National Day to raise awareness or celebrate taking care of our Planet

Earth Day 2014 Why Some people are not aware of what can be done to help make the planet a better, safer, healthier place to live.

Earth Day 2014 For example Did you know that household batteries and light bulbs should never be thrown in the trash? They can be recycled at most local stores that sell them like Wal-Mart or Ace Hardware Why? They contain some harmful chemicals that can leach into the soil and water supply as they break down in land fills.

Earth Day 2014 Did you know Some of the electricity you use comes from burning fossil fuels. Therefore, if you use less energy, less fossil fuel needs to be burned. You can use less by turning off appliances when you are away. (lights, surge protectors, or just un plug it)

Earth Day 2014 What Do we do at PV’s earth Day? not much yet it’s in the infant stages. (last year was the first year) We can decorate grocery bags with earth day messages as a community outreach action. There will be community members and organizations on the quad at lunch to talk to people and disseminate sustainable practice information. Ballet Folklorico will be performing! ASB and band may help “set the mood” We will have lunch time recycling

(your PF teacher can email Ms. Satkoski or Ms. Baines) New ideas? Many of you probably have great ideas about what we can do as a school to celebrate earth day. As of now, animal protection club is hosting earth day so take your thoughts to them (your PF teacher can email Ms. Satkoski or Ms. Baines)

Some Pics from Last Year Earth Day 2014 Some Pics from Last Year It might be nice to add a small note like “decorated with care from a local high school student”
