True or False? People with friends live just as long as loners. False: Socialization helps both longevity and well-being. Australian researches found that people with a larger network of friends lived up to 7 years longer.

True or False? Color and music affect your emotions. True: Feeling blue? Colors stimulate parts of your brain. Why do you think restaurants paint walls a certain color? They want you to eat more! And, it's happened to everyone. You hear a song, and you are transported back to a time in your life. Your emotions are immediately triggered.

True or False? Most psychologists prescribe medications. False: One has to have pharmacology training (i.e. a psychiatrist) to prescribe drugs. And though a few states allow psychologists to prescribe a limited number of psychiatric medications, most don't.

True or False? People with bumper stickers are less likely to have Road Rage. False: Those who have to “mark their territory” with bumper stickers tend to be more aggressive Animal therapy lowers stress and lifts one’s mood. True: They will bring a smile to young and old. Studies show animal therapy provides some relief from pain, stress, anxiety, and depression.

True or False? Most people don’t seek treatment for mental illness because they want to solve their problem on their own. True: Unfortunately, lots of mental illness cases go untreated, and get worse. Problems compound leading to unemployment, prison, suicide, or hospitalization. While their intentions are good, MIND OVER MATTER isn’t usually successful. And, some people are in denial that they even have a problem.
