Aims The aims of the web conference are to: • update colleagues on progress from school visits • highlight requirements for school visit analysis prior to Residential 2 • update colleagues on progress with action research • provide guidance on collecting evidence to show the impact of action research

Final web conference Each participant will be required to deliver a presentation using no more than 10 slides. The structure should be: • focus of enquiry/activity • aims • nature of enquiry • outcomes • learning points

Which method? • Open interview • Semi-structured interview • Journal entries • Questionnaire (tick box/marks out of 10 etc) • Focus group • Dilemma stories and critical incident methodology • Video/tape recordings

Next steps • Review your focus. • Decide on the methodology/methodologies you would like to use to gather evidence. • Decide who you will gather this evidence from.

Accreditation (optional) For those participants wishing to progress the accreditation option, the process is split into two parts : A 3000-4000 written assignment (75%) A power point presentation and notes (25%) Both parts are based on your action research

Preparation for Residential 2 • Think about a change you are currently leading across more than one school or institution and the key players involved. • Select a research paper from the online community or of your own choice and be prepared to discuss this in your learning set. • Read the two research papers: Securing the best for less and Prepared to lead: how schools, federations and chains grow education leaders (National College, 2011). These will be available on the online community.
