Holding the Shear The thumb is the cutting blade and ring finger holds the shear’s position.

Combing the hair Use large side of molding comb to section hair. The fine side of the molding comb is used to comb the hair from the scalp to ends.

Shear at rest position When combing either for slicing the strand, or for combing the hair from scalp to ends. Notice the comb and shear are held in what is called rest position.

Cutting the Guide Line Your body must be parallel to were you are cutting. Hold the hair between the first and second knuckle and cut only to the second knuckle. Notice the molding comb is held in left hand.
