Christianity Beliefs and Teachings Revision Name: Teacher: Group: Question 1: Write the correct key word by the definition The belief that God is all-powerful Refers to God’s nature as one who treats each individual human being fairly and equally The opposite of good. A force in seen in many traditions as destructive and against God. The belief that there are three persons in the one God. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The First person of the Trinity, the creator and sustainer of the world The form that many Christians belief the afterlife will take, referring to either physical or spiritual bodies The event celebrated on Easter Day of Jesus rising from the dead The second person of the Trinity, the title used for Jesus, whom was God incarnate The state after death of being with and enjoying eternity with God The place of eternal suffering or the state after death of separation from God Literally means ‘in flesh’ The event 40 days after the Resurrection, when Jesus return to God the Father in heaven The third person of the Trinity, present everywhere and inspires Christians today. The traditional belief that human nature is flawed due the inherited sin passed down from Adam and Eve. Behaviour against God’s laws To be saved, the deliverance from sin The unconditional and generous love that God shows to people who do not deserve it Literally ‘at-one-ment’, refers to the reconciliation between God and humanity that was sealed by the sacrificial death of Jesus. Question 2: Give 2 for each of these… Qualities that describe the nature of God Persons of the Trinity Types of Salvation Reasons why Jesus had to die Questions 3 & 4 always have the same command: EXPLAIN TWO WAYS IN WHICH…. One way… Another way… …the resurrection of Jesus influences Christians …learning about the crucifixion might influence a Christian today … beliefs about creation might influence Christians today … believe that God is all-loving might influence Christians today

Continue on lined paper Questions 3 & 4: These are some of the religious teachings you will need (but not all). For each teaching you need to clearly explain how it applies to the unit and what it possibly tells us about that religion’s view. Question 5: Are these about the resurrection or the crucifixion? “God saw all that He had made, and it was very good” “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son” “The spirit helps us in our weakness” “He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father” “It is finished” Without this there would be no hope of forgiveness or eternal life It proves that Jesus was the Son of God It reminds Christians of the divine part of Jesus It makes Jesus the Saviour or Redeemer of the world. It proves that Jesus is the promised Messiah and that there is life after death It is remembered on Good Friday It was gruesome. He was beaten, made to carry his own cross. It reminds Christians of the human part of Jesus It is celebrated on Easter Sunday It has always been central to the Christian message. God knows what it is like to suffer as a human It was part of God’s plan. Without this we would still be in our sins, unforgiven, unredeemed, unsaved. If this had not happened then we ourselves have no hope of resurrection. Show that death can be overcome. Because of this we no longer need to fear death “I am the _____________ and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies” Question 5: “The crucifixion is more important to Christians that the resurrection” Evaluate this statement - 12 marks It is re-enacted in passion plays across the world Represented by an empty cross What is the crucifixion? What is the Resurrection? O – I agree/disagree with this statement because… _______________________ _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Reasons why the crucifixion is important Reasons why the resurrection is important The examiner is looking for justification. Have you given good reasons? Finish the 12 marker… Continue on lined paper
