We need to make sure children are safe online. What are the dangers/risks? Inappropriate content Stranger danger Cyber bulling Grooming Sexting Pornography Violence

Not everyone online is who they say they are. Stranger danger Not everyone online is who they say they are. Catfish is an American show which helps people meet up with the person they have been talking to online. Most of the time, they are not the person in the pictures.

Your digital footprint Everything you write online – stays online! You can delete something however someone could still find it. Also it is very easy screen shot a picture/message or anything. So make sure your child knows this. Think about when you or your children are looking for a job. Employers look at your social media pages to see what type of person you are. Think about what is on these pages.

How to make sure our children are safe online: Don’t frighten them – the internet can be a brilliant place! Establish ‘rules’ or expectations Look at the age ranges – they are 18 for a reason! Answer questions they have – you don’t need to go into detail about things just make them aware. Check the apps that they are using Talk about passwords Be open and honest!
