Is Doing for Its Members? What the District and Gyro International Is Doing for Its Members?

What the District and Gyro International Is Doing for Its Members?   Some members wonder what they are getting for their District and International dues.  Below I am providing a list of functions and services rendered by your district and international leaders.

• Provides opportunities for inter-club activity.  District: •   District Officers visit clubs to install officers and present awards each year. •   District Officers attend other club functions as requested or is appropriate. •   Provides opportunities for inter-club activity.

• District Officers are available to help with club issues.  District: •   The District Convention provides each club with the opportunity to hear and discuss new methods for increasing membership and other ideas as to how to improve the club. •   District Officers are available to help with club issues. •   The District has funds to provide seed money for the clubs hosting District Conventions. •   The District Treasurer collects district dues and pays bills associated with district activities.

Gyro International:  As to what Gyro International provides for the benefit of our members includes the following:  (Ref:  gyro.ws, click on Tools, click on article, “What Does International Do for me?” and Sections B & C of Constitution and By-Laws.) •    Executive Council (EC) consists of six officers (President, three Vice Presidents, Immed. Past President & Secretary/Treasurer). •     Officers visit the districts and install the officers & present awards. •    The EC Officers visit clubs (the goal is once every three years), may install new club members or officers in the absence of district officers.    

•   The EC prepares an annual budget, monitors expenses and submits financial reports for all international activities. Arrange for the content and holding of sessions and meetings at the International Interim and Annual General Meeting. •   Deals with many issues regarding membership, finances and other matters that require attention. •   Reviews and approves applications for International Awards. •   Publishes the GyroScope publication four times a year.

• The staff located at Headquarters in Painesville, Ohio, maintains •   The staff located at Headquarters in Painesville, Ohio, maintains records of all club members, collects per capita dues, maintains the building and office equipment, has name badges, pins, and plaques made up for the benefit of the members. •    Listens to and represents the wishes of the membership by new Constitution and By-Law changes voted for by the general membership. •   Provides a structure to protect each club’s status as members in Gyro International whether the club is located in Canada or the United States.
