Healthy and Wealthy? by Shantelle Buckalew, Cory Rice, Austin Lesueur, Krishna Rai David Winkworth, and Joshua Stubbs
Being Healthy is Too Hard! It’s too expensive for fruits and vegetables. They don’t last long enough to be worth buying. I don’t really like salad. I can never find good fruits and vegetables. Who has time to cook a meal when fast food is fast? No More Excuses!
Being Healthy Isn’t That Hard Fruits and vegetables are regularly on sale somewhere in the community. 39% of people say they shop once a week. Most produce will last a week or more. Fruits and vegetables can be used for many more meals than just salad.
Healthy is Still Not That Hard In every store there is someone you can ask to help you decide what produce is best. One quick web search will give you advice on how to choose as well. Most meals can be cooked and prepared in 30min. Taking the time to sit down and eat benefits you just as much as eating healthier does.
Fresh Produce is Cheaper Most people think that fresh things are more expensive. They are wrong. There are several studies showing that fresh produce bought and used correctly saves money in comparison with fast food. At every grocery store in the valley there is fresh produce. It’s just a matter of choosing to buy it.
Ways to Create that Healthy Lifestyle Do your research on stores and discounts Buy produce that is in season Grow your own garden Buy your neighbors food from their garden Buy less at a time in order to use what you buy Less is more in the produce world Try new things, Really it’s ok!
Get Educated! People don’t buy fresh produce because they don’t know if it’s good or bad People are scared to ask someone what the right choice is. That’s Their Job, Let Them Do It! Take the time to make a better life for you and your family.
