Presentation transcript:

Be A Team Player Teamwork is the Key to Safety Promote safety by acting safely.

Avoiding Safety Hazards Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Watch out for everyday hazards, and advise your manager of an existing hazard that needs attention.

Avoiding Safety Hazards If you drop it, pick it up. Many accidents can be avoided if people pick up dropped paperclips, rubber-bands, and various other items.

Avoiding Safety Hazards If you spill something, clean it up. If the spill is big, call the Employee Resource Center at 1-866-743-5748 to have it cleaned up quickly, before someone slips and falls.

Avoiding Safety Hazards Move items correctly. Never use a chair. Push the cart in front of you and only move one cart at a time.

Avoiding Safety Hazards Stack carts with heavier items on the bottom. Do not attempt to take items off top shelves if they are too heavy. Have someone assist you.

Avoiding Safety Hazards Close desk and file drawers when they are not in use. Be aware of your surroundings to avoid running into or falling over drawers, chairs, etc.

Avoiding Safety Hazards Report loose and hanging wires that create tripping hazards to your manager or contact the Employee Resource Center at 1-866-743-5748 to avoid tripping accidents.

Avoiding Safety Hazards Be alert when walking down corridors, and especially on steps. Stand in one place while talking on a cell-phone, reading, or anything that is distracting to avoid falling or tripping over unseen objects.

Avoiding Safety Hazards Enter or exit through doorways slowly to avoid hitting someone or being hit yourself. Do not use boxes or chairs to hold doors open. This could cause a hazard, especially in an emergency.

Avoiding Safety Hazards Be alert to pedestrians in the roadway. Follow posted speed limits in the parking lot. Drive carefully and be aware of people parking in or exiting spaces.

Avoiding Safety Hazards Follow instructions on posted signs throughout the facility. Do not enter posted areas that you are not authorized to access. Follow directions where you see signs that designate ENTRANCE or EXIT.

Avoiding Safety Hazards Be careful on wet or icy walkways and roadways. Wear proper footwear in inclement weather. Shake off your umbrella before entering the building. Use the carpets at the entrances to dry your footwear to prevent slipping or falling.

Avoiding Safety Hazards Let’s all work together to make the workplace a safer environment. Be alert. Be aware. Be safe.
