Welcome to English 9 with Miss Krzyzanowski at Country Day School for the 2018 – 2019 School Year

What’s 9th Grade English all about? Learning – exploring – journeying! We will read works (fiction & non-fiction) that show other’s journeys through life and the lessons that they learned. While reading these works, you will create works about your own journeys and research others. In addition, you will become a stronger reader, writer, communicator, speller, and more!

What do I expect while on this journey? Be respectful of yourself & others. Be accountable for your actions. Be purposeful with your actions. Be present in our moments together. What do do these expectations look like?

What do we need? Positive attitude and open mind USB/back up drive Headphones Pens (blue or black, not erasable) Agenda Highlighters 3 subject notebook Small folder/binder Glue stick (not liquid) Laptop & charger For example, Astoria Oregon is a town on the Oregon coast well know for its starring role in the movie “The Goonies”. Today, we will take a trip from our school to Astoria through miles and time…

Details: Academic Honesty: 1 Day Late, -25% Students are expected to do their own work. Country Day School strives to provide an environment which encourages honesty and integrity. 2 Days Late, -40% 3 - 7 Days Late, -50% Work will not be accepted for a grade if it is more than 7 days late.  Late Work Policy:  Homework is always  checked or submitted at the beginning of the class period. If it is submitted after ‘last call’ then it is considered one day late.  If you turn work in late because you missed class and did not have a doctors note or you simply did not do it on time, the policy is outlined below:

Grades Spelling practices & tests Grammar practices & tests Homework Class discussions & participation Reading checks   Independent reading projects (100 points) Unit Finals/Essays (100-200 points) Midterm Exam Final Exam You can use this type of slide for text, images, shapes and tables to help add information in a different way.
