Who are we?

A user led advice, guidance and information service for anyone who has a need relating to age, disability or caring responsibilities We officially started offering services in July 2011 after a year of consulting with people in Nottingham to find out what they wanted and needed.

What is Disability What do you think disability is? What is it in the eyes of the law?

Our client groups Individuals aged 18 and over with a physical and/or sensory impairment People with mental ill health People with a learning disability Carers People with long term health conditions Older people Professionals Other service providers

Welfare Rights Service Welfare Rights Advice Delivering advice, form filling, support with appeals and attending tribunals.

Volunteer service Volunteer Co-ordinator supporting disabled people to volunteer and helping local communities with a variety of tasks such as light cleaning, DIY tasks, peer support and shopping.

Information Information service – provides information for any enquiry they receive or points the client to someone who can answer their question. The information service also creates user forums for different aspects of living with a disability, such as Personal Budgets, accessing grants or finding PA’s.

Scenario PIP related Gets enhanced mobility component of Personal independence payment, do they automatically qualify for a blue badge?

Scenario 2 PIP related PIP enhanced mobility. Has 10 points in Mobility Activity 1 and 4 points in activity 2. Are they entitled to a motability car?

Scenario 3 PIP related If you are appealing mobility PIP decision because you are deemed no longer entitled to enhanced rate, can you keep your motability car? Transitional support package for Scheme customers

Scenario 1 ESA related Can someone who is alcohol dependant claim ESA?

Scenario 2 ESA related Does a person with a double leg amputation above the knees, who self propels a manual wheelchair and has no other health issues, qualify for ESA?

Scenario 3 ESA related Does a person who is an electric wheelchair user, qualify for ESA?

Scenario 1 DLA Does a 1 yr old child with Down’s Syndrome, qualify for DLA.
