The Caiaphas Ossuary What is it? The Caiaphas Ossuary is a box that contained the bones of Caiaphas, a High Priest of the Jewish religion in Israel Where was it found? How old is it? It was found in 1990 accidently when a construction team was digging in the southern area of Jerusalem. If the item is authentic, it is approximately 2,000 years old. How is it connected to the Bible? The ossuary bears the name of one of the people mentioned in the Gospels, the High Priest Caiaphas. How does it help confirm the Bible? It helps confirm the Bible by demonstrating that one of the people mentioned in the Bible was a true historical figure who lived and breathed. Other Interesting Facts about this item: The box is 37 cm high and 75 cm long The bones of a 60 year old male were found inside Caiaphas was a major antagonist of Jesus within the Gospels This find has been disputed by some, so it is not a strongly confirmed artifact.

The Azekah Inscription What is it? It is a tablet describing some events during the reign of King Sennacherib of Assyria during his conquest of Judea. Where was it found? How old is it? It was found during an archaeological dig in northern Iraq with hundreds of other clay tablets. It was found in the 1850s, but it wasn’t identified until 1903. The tablet was created around 700BC, making it about 2,700 years old! How is it connected to the Bible? The tablet mentions the land of Judah, the city of Azekah, and King Hezekiah from the Bible. How does it help confirm the Bible? It helps confirm the Bible by confirming the Biblical account that the Assyrians did indeed invade the Kingdom of Judah. Other Interesting Facts about this item: The Azekah Inscription describes events that 2 Kings 18:13 states, “In the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah’s reign, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked all the fortified cities of Judah and captured them.”
