5th Grade Mrs.Dee Mrs.Dina 2016-2017

Line up quickly and silently, one behind the other, in number order. Lining Up

To be courteous to students and staff throughout the building, we will move silently through the building, staying on the right side of the hallway. Silent Halls

Raising Your Hand Students are expected to raise hands to speak in class since blurting out is not respectful to other learners.

Restroom You must record your name, date and in & out times on the sign-out sheet. Only one out at a time.

When in the Restroom It is expected that students will be silent in the restrooms. The restroom is not a place to play or visit.

Pencil Sharpening Students are expected to have at least 2 sharpened pencils daily. Sharpening takes place during homeroom before announcements and during transition time. If you break both of your pencils, raise your hand and wait patiently for the teacher to assist you.

Staying Seated Students are expected to remain seated in class. Proper sitting includes having your bottom in the seat, your feet on the floor and all 4 feet of the chair on the floor. There is no tipping back, putting feet up, or laying head down.

Attitude Attitudes, both good and bad, are contagious. Students are expected to be tolerant and respectful so we can work well together this year.

End of Day This is a calm, quiet transition time. Each student is expected to help clean and straighten up before being dismissed. Desk tops and floor should be left clear of belongings and trash. End of day: Chairs must be pushed in.

Channel Books Students are expected to copy homework assignments daily from the board exactly as they are written for each class. Parents should sign Channel books daily.

Quiet Signal When your teacher gives her “quiet” signal, you are to immediately stop what you are doing, look at your teacher, and wait silently.

Fire Drills Be silent. Immediately stand, push in your chair and exit the classroom in an orderly fashion. Follow your teacher through the pod doors to our assigned waiting area in the parking lot. Listen for directions; wait silently with your teacher until it is safe to return to class. Do not touch any vehicles.

Missing Materials You should have your own materials in each class every day. This will consequence in your over all class preparation grade.

Entering the Classroom Walk in quietly and orderly. Report to assigned seat. Hang backpack on back of chair. Get out homework and agenda. Write homework in agenda. Agenda is to remain on your desk throughout class. Sharpen pencils. Begin warm-up activity.

Throwing Away Trash Please hold trash until the teacher dismisses the class. You may throw your trash away on your way out.

News & Announcements Stop what you are doing or saying. Listen carefully. Hold any questions until the end of announcements. Do NOT make comments during announcements.

Saying Thank you When a classmate or teacher does something nice for you, say thank you. You will notice more good things come your way.

Documents to be Signed When you receive any type of progress report, behavior log, permission slip, or form, bring it home in your channel book for a parent to view. Return the document to school signed in 2 days.

When you finish early Finish any incomplete assignments. Read a book. Work on an unfinished piece of writing. Write a letter.
