Vocabulary Enforcing The Law law enforcers- people who make sure people obey the law, for example policemen.

Royal Bahamas Police Force Enforcing The Law We need law enforcers to make sure that the laws are obeyed. People who break the law are committing a crime. In The Bahamas, one group of law enforcers are the Royal Bahamas Police Force, established in 1840. It is the duty of the police to arrest people who commit a crime and to bring them to court.

Royal Bahamas Police Force Enforcing The Law The police work long hours, both day and night, so that law-abiding citizens can feel safe and secure. They are our friends. Look at Daniel Bain’s plans for a career with the Police:

Royal Bahamas Police Force Enforcing The Law Daniel left school when he was 18. He took and passed the Entrance Examination, and joined the Royal Bahamas Police Force. First of all he was sent to the Police Training College for special training, and then he went to work with the Traffic Division.

Royal Bahamas Police Force Enforcing The Law He learned all about the laws relating to traffic and transport in The Bahamas. Very soon he was promoted from being a constable to a corporal. He intends to become an inspector one day. The very highest position in the police force is commissioner. That officer is in charge of the entire force.

Royal Bahamas Defence Force Enforcing The Law The Royal Bahamas Defence Force is another body that helps to enforce our laws. It was created in 1979 by an act of Parliament. The two main aims of this force are:

Royal Bahamas Police Force Enforcing The Law to protect our fishing grounds from foreign poachers to prevent drugs coming into or passing through the islands of The Bahamas
