God Shepherded The People Psalm 23

God, The Good Shepherd Exodus 13:17-18 Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.” So God led the people around by way of the wilderness of the Red Sea. Psalm 78:52-55 He also drove out the nations before them … and made the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents. Psalm 23:1-4

As a Shepherd: God Led the People Jeremiah 10:23 O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps. Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Contrast to the Shepherds of Israel Jeremiah 23:1-8, 16-17 1 Peter 5:1-4 – Elders given the same task today.

As a Shepherd: God Fed and Provided Deuteronomy 8:2-4 (Deuteronomy 29:5) The multitudes refer to this time in John chapter 6 as a sign worthy of God. Deuteronomy 8:3 … that man shall not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. (Matthew 4:4) Matthew 6:31-33 Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.

As a Shepherd: God Protected the People Psalm 78:53, 55 But the sea overwhelmed their enemies … He also drove out the nations before them. Joshua 24:12 I sent the hornet before you, which drove them out before you, the two kings of the Amorites; it was not by your sword or by your bow. It was not by their own strength they could conquer the land. Psalm 78:61-64; 65-66 Luke 15:4-7 Jesus shows how precious just one lost sheep is.

God Provided a Shepherd: David Psalm 78:70-72 So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands. 1 Kings 9:4 God says the same thing of David while speaking to Solomon. 2 Samuel 5:2; 1 Samuel 16:1; 18:16 1 Samuel 17:34-37

God Provided a Shepherd: Jesus Jesus is the good shepherd John 10:7, 14-15 Jesus leads His sheep to eternal life. John 10:24-30 John 11:25-26 (to Martha at Lazarus’ tomb) 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again … Thus we shall always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10
