Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit LMS science Fair Club 2018 Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit

SEFMD Want to deeply engage your students in all aspects of STEM? How about giving your students an edge when it comes to 21st Century Skills- then get your students involved in the SEFMD!

About SEFMD The SEFMD is one of the Oldest and Largest Science Fairs in the Country Students from across SE Michigan compete each March at COBO Hall There are Jr. Division (MS) and Senior Division (HS) competitions Each year approx. 1500 participants The SEFMD is the feeder event for State, National and International Fairs at the Jr. and Sr. levels

LMS Sci. Fair Club 2018 This year I will mentor12 individual projects and 4 team projects (2-3 students). Students select their own topic/project and create original research on it to present. All participating students will compete in the Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit (SEFMD), March 14th at COBO Hall. Finalists (Grand, 1st & 2nd) qualify for the national science fair, Broadcom Masters. No time no problem… most meetings are during lunch! Join our Schoology Group using the access code: 6X9GW-SDHK9

Individual vs. Team Individual Projects- I will mentor 12 of these. Projects are judged on their research display boards. Students are not present for the judging process Team Projects consist of 2-3 students. I will mentor 4 of these (hard cap per school) These projects are judged via interviews from 8am to 12pm on the day of judging. Not all members have to be present for judging. However, they are all STRONGLY encouraged to be present for judging.

Getting Started Topic/Project Selection Pick something you are interested in! Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (Interdisciplinary) This is the most critical in terms of success Be creative, look at new and original research for inspiration Investigate issues in the news Solve/Find Problems Build something Real World
