The New Deal The New Deal was a group of programs and legislation started by President Roosevelt to bring an end to the Great Depression

Civilian Conservation Corps Know as the CCC, it employed young men who worked to preserve natural resources: they planted trees, constructed state and national parks, and built rural roadways The rehabilitation of Fort Pulaski in Savannah was a CCC project in the 1930’s

Works Progress Administration Known as the WPA, it was the largest New Deal Program. It hired million of unemployed Americans who were used to build buildings and roads. They also hired artists, musicians, actors to perform and paint across the country.

Tennessee Valley Authority Known as the TVA, it constructed a network of dams and power plants to bring electricity to the rural South By providing electricity, the TVA also then created more jobs, because now consumers purchased things that ran on electricity, like refrigerators, stoves, lightbulbs, etc.., which then created job growth in other areas.
