Definition of Orthopedics Orthopedics is the branch of medicine that deals with bones or deformities and diseases in the bones.

Jobs Orthopedic Surgeon~ They spend about half their time in the actual operating room, but they also use medical, physical and rehabilitative methods in addition to actually performing surgery. They treat fractures, dislocations, torn ligaments, tendon injuries, back pain, congenital deformities and arthritis. Orthopedic Nurse~ They may work in orthopedic unit or in general units. They can be RN’s or licensed practical nurses. Orthopedic Technologist~ They assist the orthopedic surgeon in the practice of the medicine and help the nurses take care of patients. They help apply and remove casts.
