Children & Youth Planning Board Presentation New Orleans City Council Criminal Justice Committee August 28, 2013

Authorizing Legislation State: La. R.S. 46:1941.1 et. seq. City: M.C.S., Ord. No. 21779, Sec. 1 (11-18-04)

Governance Board (no less than 11 no more than 25) Representative of the community in terms of gender, age, ethnicity and geography as well as knowledge and experience

Purpose To encourage collaborative efforts among local stakeholders To develop a comprehensive plan for services and programs for the children and youth of Orleans Parish To make recommendations to the City Council To report annually to the City Council

Mission The mission of the New Orleans Children and Youth Planning Board is to prepare a comprehensive plan for services and programs that address the needs of the children and youth of New Orleans in order to encourage positive development and diversion of children and youth from the criminal justice system.
