The Russian Revolution Russia underwent two Revolutions in 1917 The March Revolution overthrew the Tsar and replaced him with Provisional Government. This temporary government continued the War. The October Revolution led by Lenin and his Bolshevik Party. This group were Communists and they wanted to end the war. They signed the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk which gave Germany large amounts of land that would provide Germany with food and raw materials for industry. Germany could now transfer hundreds of thousands of troops from the Eastern to Western front.
