RORO?

RORO Ships Roll-on/roll-off ships are vessels designed to carry wheeled cargo, such as cars, trucks, semi-trailer trucks, trailers, and railroad cars, that are driven on and off the ship on their own wheels. This is in contrast to lift-on/lift-off (LoLo) vessels, which use a crane to load and unload cargo.

The effect of port capacity Typically 2-4 ships arrive per day for an average of 3, and it takes an average of 6.667 hours to unload/load a ship. The port operates 24/365. Every hour a ship waits costs $1,000. Currently there is only one berth for ROROs It requires an investment of $90 Million to add a new berth. Annual operating costs: One berth: $9M, Two berths: $15M, Three berths: $20M. Determine Probability of less than 2 ships waiting with one berth. For 1, 2, and 3 berths determine. Average number of ships waiting, Average waiting time per ship, Waiting cost per ship, Resource cost per ship, Total cost per ship. Payback time for the best case (2 or 3). Berth is the term used in ports and harbors for a designated location where a vessel may be moored
