Outline of the course Unit 1 (AS and A Level) Britain 1930 – 1997 Enquiry Topic: Churchill 1930-51 Unit 2 (AS and A Level) Democracy and dictatorships in Germany 1919 – 1963 Unit 3 (A Level only) The changing nature of warfare 1792 – 1945 Unit 4 (A Level only) Coursework (3,000-4,000 word essay) The subject of the essay is the pupils’ own choice

Assessment requirements Unit 1: 1hr 30min examination including an essay and source questions. Unit 2: 1hr 30mins (AS) and 1hr (A). Essay and interpretation question. Unit 3: 2hr 30mins: Essay and interpretation questions. Unit 4: 3,000 – 4,000 word coursework essay

Taster activity Sorting and categorisation activity. At AS you will be studying Britain and Germany. At times the two courses overlap in terms of chronology and events. Try to put the events/people/places etc into the correct category: Britain 1929-97 Germany 1918 – 1963 Overlap

Final Tips Its all about the reading and note taking Make sure you are familiar with Churchill in the Wilderness between 1929 and 1939, as this is where we will start in September.
