The Member Experience - Illustrated District Convention 2015 Jeffrey Van Member Relations Chair [INSERT SEMINAR TOPIC]

Every Member Counts! What does each Key Club member experience as part of Key Club? How can we improve that experience?

Every Member Counts at meetings…..

At meetings….. Starting late One person talking entire time (in monotone!) Lack of respect (by leadership or general membership) Chaos

At meetings….. Lively & welcoming Start & end on time Inclusive Powerpoint or handout of main points Respectful Encourage others to sign up for events

Every Member Counts at projects and fundraisers…..

At projects & fundraisers… Not enough to do What is expected of me? What is this project or fundraiser for? Lack of recognition Leader does not set example

At projects & fundraisers… Welcome & recognition Clear tasks & expectations Project or fundraising cause is explained Safe & well chaperoned Shifts and/or breaks provided If there is a problem, try and fix it

Every Member Counts during social events…

During social events… Awkward silences Cliques Wrong venue No contingency plan for weather Forcing people to be uncomfortable

During social events… Icebreakers & team-building activities include everyone Theme provides a fun extra element Shy people are encouraged to participate – on their own terms Don’t be afraid to step out of comfort zones!

Key Club Core Values Caring Inclusiveness Leadership Character Development

Ask yourself…. What can I do to improve my own experience as a Key Club member? What can I do to improve the experience of other members in my club?

? ? Questions? Comments? Concerns? Go for it!
