World Milk Production FAO data shows that: World cow's milk production in 2010 stood at nearly 600 million tonnes, The top ten producing countries account for 55.7% of production. The USA is the largest cow's milk producer in the world accounting for 14.6% of world production, producing over 87 million tonnes in 2010. India is the second largest cow's milk producer, accounting for 8.4% of world production and producing over 50 million tonnes in 2010

World dairy cattle numbers FAO estimates: 265 million Dairy cows in 2010 (an increase of 10 million (4.1%) compared to 2009 . Approximately 55% of the world's dairy cows were held by the top 10 cuntries. India is the largest holder of dairy cattle with an estimated 43.6 million heads for 2010.
