Who Participates? All students at our school participate! However, some students participate with testing accommodations. Do English Language Learners participate in the FSA? Yes! ELLs who have been enrolled in school in the United States for less than one year may be exempt from the FSA ELA assessments (Reading and Writing). Exempt ELLs must participate in the annual English language proficiency assessment. Additionally, all ELLs enrolled in tested grade levels and subjects are expected to participate in Mathematics, Science, and EOC assessments no matter how long these students have been enrolled in a U.S. school.

Depth of Knowledge Dr. Norman Webb’s model for Depth of Knowledge. The DOK level for an individual content standard is intended to represent the typical performance level of cognitive complexity that a learning activity or assessment item associated with that standard might entail. This is particularly important for assessment purposes, since 50% or more of assessment items associated with a given standard should meet or exceed the DOK level of the standard. CPALMS  http://www.cpalms.org/standards/dok.aspx

Percentage of Points ELA MATH

Webb’s Levels 1 and 2 were represented in Florida’s adaptation of Webb’s DOK model as low and moderate, respectively. DOK Levels 3 and 4 were collapsed into a single, “high” DOK level.

Scoring and Reporting T Score—The score that students receive the first year the FSA assessment is administered. T scores are reported using a norm-referenced score scale known as a T score scale. T Score Scale—A scale of 20–80 in which the mean is a score of 50 and the standard deviation is 10 Mean—An average of the individual scores that describes the performance of a group of students. The mean is computed by finding the sum of all scores and dividing by the number of students. Percentile Rank—The percentile rank is the percentage of scores that fall at or below a given score. Scores for the 2015–2016 assessments will be released in June 2016.

Training Tests Computer-based training tests for each assessment are available for teachers, students and parents/guardians. Training tests allow students to become familiar with the system, Students are required to participate in a training test session at their school prior to testing.
