GNSS opportunities in Maritime Manuel Lopez-Martinez Market Development Dept. European GNSS Applications in H2020 Prague, 04/02/2014

Agenda EGNSS Adoption in Maritime Opportunities Market Segmentation EGNSS Added Value for Maritime Areas of Interest for Innovation Discussion First, I will present The current status of the EGNSS adoption in Maritime, I will highlight some concrete opportunities in some applications I will discuss the market segmentation, Then, I will present the added value of EGNOS and Galileo services in some applications. As well as the areas of interest for innovation, And finally I will give stress some points related to the call.

Current status of the EGNSS adoption in Maritime EGNOS trials conducted by EC confirmed IMO performance requirements for coastal navigation, port approaches and inland waterways. Galileo uptake will likely increase rapidly, once it is recognized by IMO as part of the WWRNS Current status of the EGNSS adoption in the market In the last Market Report, we can find the current capability of GNSS in Maritime devices. In maritime GPS and Glonass are leading in the regulated market so far since the are recognized as part of the WWRNS. Galileo uptake will increase once it is also recognized by IMO. In this sense, Multi-constellation GNSS receiver is key for the IMO E-navigation concept providing better availability and accuracy On the other hand, SBAS including EGNOS have a penetration of the 90%, and this will increase as EGNOS has shown its capability to fulfill IMO requirements. Multi-constellation GNSS receiver is key for the IMO E-Navigation concept, providing better availability and accuracy

E-GNSS concrete opportunities for industry – Maritime EGNOS and Galileo, can contribute to a safer and more efficient navigation Examples of applications: General navigation Automatic collision avoidance Track control Traffic management Port operations Fisheries monitoring Galileo will contribute to international SAR operations Europe’s contribution to the MEOSAR system of COSPAS-SARSAT Forward link: Time reduction in the detection and localization of SAR alert Return link: Sends detection acknowledgement message from the SAR operator to the distress emitting beacon Opportunities Regarding the opportunities… http://egnos-portal.gsa.europa.eu/maritime

Regulated1/ Merchant fleet2 Unregulated / Leisure fleet Installed base dominated by leisure GNSS devices, general navigation and SAR leading in regulated Maritime segment Regulated1/ Merchant fleet2 Unregulated / Leisure fleet c.a. 50.000 vessels3 (~100.000 GNSS devices) c.a. 6M vessels (Europe) Market segmentation The maritime market segment is mainly divided into leisure and commercial vessels. On the one hand, the leisure fleet is composed of around 6M vessels. In them, GNSS receivers are highly adopted including SBAS/EGNOS augmentation with a penetration of more than 90%, according to the GPS World Receiver Survey in 2012. On the other hand, the commercial fleet is composed of merchant, fishing and passengers vessels. The regulated merchant fleet is composed of around 50.000 vessels. In the regulated segment, as shown in the chart on the left, the main part of GNSS shipments corresponds to General navigation (that is navigation in ocean and coastal waters among others) and SAR, which represent the 80%. In the chart on the right, we can see that the largest growth foreseen in the next 10 years corresponds to SAR shipments. This is due to the replacement of SAR beacons which will include a GNSS receiver to provide a more accurate position to the SAR authorities in case of an accident. --- Recreational...Runabout_boat, Sport_fishing_boat, Cruiser_boat, Sailing_yacht 1 under IMO SOLAS Convention – International Maritime Organisation – Safety of life at sea 2 Fishing fleet is not included (~80.000 vessels in Europe) 3 Vessels with more than 300 tons.

EGNOS and Galileo add value to maritime applications E-GNSS Services EGNOS GALILEO OS EDAS SOL OS High Precision Authentication SAR Applications1 Ocean waters Coastal waters Harbour entrances and approaches General Navigation Inland waterways Restricted waters2 Port Manoeuvring operations in ports Traffic Management Galileo/EGNOS added value In this slide we present a Matrix showing the relevance of EGNOS and Galileo services in key maritime applications. For example, EGNOS SoL will be relevant for General Navigation as well as Galileo OS. For the regulated segment under SOLAS convention (safety of life at sea), the safety of life service will be really relevant. Galileo Authentication will be relevant for navigation in restricted waters and traffic management. With respect to the recreation and leisure fleet EGNOS OS, Galileo OS, an Galileo Authentication will be relevant services. Homeland security Search and Rescue Recreation and Leisure Regulated Unregulated Relevant Not relevant Long term relevance 1Applications defined in IMO resolution A.915(22) 2Restricted waters other than harbour approach, inland waterways and port navigation

Areas of interest for GNSS innovation in Maritime Unregulated Market Unregulated market is an attractive option for new products and applications Applications for recreational boats and marinas represents a good opportunity for innovation c.a. 6 Millions vessels in Europe c.a. 4000 marinas in Europe Regulated Market Maritime is a strongly regulated market segment Influence of regulation in business plan will be key for proposal selection especially in: Passenger and freight transport Fisheries Environmental protection Ports operations SAR operations Areas of interest With respet to the areas of interest …. read 20-Nov-18 European GNSS Agency

H2020-Galileo-2014: APPLICATIONS IN SATELLITE NAVIGATION Discussion H2020-Galileo-2014: APPLICATIONS IN SATELLITE NAVIGATION Call is focused on applications (New developments on Multifrequency/Multiconstellation Rx out of scope) Preliminary business plan has to be included in the proposal GNSS added value has to be justified in the proposal taking into occount other technologies Development of products as well as end to end solutions are of high interest Discussion I would like to conclude highlighting the following points… read  (E2ES) A term that suggests that the supplier of an application/program or system will provide all the hardware and/or software components and resources  to meet the customer's requirement.
