The space changes depending on what event is going on. Sometimes plays and musicals are performed in the space. Sometimes musicians, pop stars and bands play in the space. Sometimes artists present their art work in the space.

If this is an art installation or sculpture, what is the message or meaning the artist is trying to make? How did the car and bricks get inside the roundhouse? Where has the car come from?

Do their costumes tell you anything about the performance? What sort of show is it? What puzzles you about the photograph? What type of dance do you think this is? Are the dancers telling a story? What might the story be?

Questions What is happening in the photograph? What might be behind the curtain? How has the curtain been made? Do you think stuff happens in front, on or behind the curtain? Why? Do you think the giant curtain stays the same all the time? How might it change? Who is the person in the photo? What might they be doing? Does this art installation remind you of anything?

Questions Where do you think this performance is happening? Explain. Do you think the performers are safe? Why/why not? Where might the audience be? What puzzles you about this photograph? What sort of performance is this? (play, musical, circus, dance, art exhibition?) How do you know?

Look at the stage floor? What do you think it is made out of? Why? What else do you notice in the photograph that might tell you more about the performance? Who are all the seats for? Why are they empty? Does anything puzzle you about the photograph? Do you think the production is set in the UK? Why/why not?

What makes you suspect that this picture is a model rather than an aerial photograph? Who might use a photograph like this? What do you think the different parts of the building are going to be used for? What other buildings/structures does this building remind you of? What is the building going to be used for? How do you know? Look at some pictures of the Roundhouse before 1997. What is the same? What is different about the space?

Questions What is at the centre of the picture? Why are there lines linking the object to the building? What are their purpose? What materials have been used? What will happen if someone plays the object? Who is going to use this instrument? How loud do you think the organ will be? Will the organ sound like an organ or will it make a different sound? Explain your thinking? Why are there no other objects or instruments in the big space?

Questions What can you see in the photograph? Have you seen something similar? Where? When? Why do you think that this structure is in an inside space? Why has the castle been built at the Roundhouse? What is its purpose? Who might use it? How many people might be able to go inside the castle? What is it made out of? Why might a bouncy castle be in a performance space like the Roundhouse? What has the bouncy castle got to do with art or music or dance?
