GOAL 1 Position the Alliance to meet the present and future demands for life long learning

Objective The Alliance will conduct literacy skills seminars, workshops or institutes either online, virtually or on-site and develop computer-based tutorial modules on how to access and use digital archives by May 30, 2007.

Action 1 Enlist Cornell Digital Project participants to develop train-the-trainer session on the use and access to digital collection.

Action 2 Develop computer-based tutorial modules on literacy skills and access & use of digital archives.

Goal 2 Create an on-going awareness that communicates the Alliance as the PREMIER HBCU information resource.

Objective To develop a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy within and beyond the alliance by the end of 2007.

Action 1 Market the Alliance by establishing an annual HBCU Library Alliance Week. Develop displays and programming internally on every HBCU campus initially and expand over the next 3-5 years to market externally.

Action 2 Develop a virtual clearinghouse for displays, expert identification, best practices, innovative programming, marketing ideas etc. (including key slogans, & talking points)

Goal 3 Build and sustain a fiscally sound organization.

Objective Build membership to 100% participation levels using a multi-tiered membership structure and identifying ongoing external funding sources.

Action 1 Achieve a 5% annual increase over the previous year in the number of paid members by creating a multi-tiered membership structure to include corporate, foundation, and endowed members, and incorporate the addition of HBCU Alliance dues into annual Solinet renewal invoices.

Action 2 Identify potential external funding sources for pursuing collaborative project opportunities by the end of 2007. Begin with the identification of key funding source contacts within potential organization.
