The Last Trumpet THE TRUMPET WILL SOUND

The Last Trumpet Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (1Co 15:51-52 NKJV) A Text: I Cor.15:52 (compare with 1 Thess. 4.13-18) B. Even those whose radios blast so loud that it can be heard for a country mile, will hear this trumpet. C. What will happen when this trumpet sounds?

The Last Trumpet Time will End… Time Will End. The text says it will be…[adv]

The Last Trumpet Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (1Co 15:51-52 NKJV) be “the last trumpet.” It will also signal the end of something else…[adv]

Time Will End End of Christ’s Rule… Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. (1Co 15:24-26 NKJV) 1. Time Will End. A. While many think that Christ's return will be the beginning of His kingdom, I Cor.15:24 declares it to be the end of His reign.

Time Will End The Last Day… This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:39-40 NKJV) B. It is the "last day" (Jn. 6:39-40, 44,54) The “last trumpet” will sound on the “last day…”

The Last Trumpet The End of Time… Resurrection of the Dead… It will also signal… II. The Resurrection of the Dead

Resurrection of Dead Text says so… Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (1Co 15:51-52 NKJV) The Resurrection of the Dead. A. Our text declares this fact (1 Cor. 15:51-52). B. There will NOT be a resurrection of the righteous and then 1,000 years later a resurrection of the wicked (Jn.5:28-29)…

Resurrection of Dead ALL the Dead… Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth— those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. (John 5:28-29) B. There will NOT be a resurrection of the righteous and then 1,000 years later a resurrection of the wicked (Jn.5:28-29).

Resurrection of Dead ALL the Dead… And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. (Rev 20:12-13) C. All the dead will be raised (Rev. 20:12-13).

The Last Trumpet The End of Time… Resurrection of the Dead… Universal Judgment… 111. A Universal Judgment.

Universal Judgment EVERYONE…Small and Great… And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. (Rev 20:12-13) 111. A Universal Judgment. A. The small and great will be there (Rev. 20: 12). B. Each of us will be there to give an account to Christ (2 Cor. 5: 10). C. Knowing such should lead us to repentance (Acts 17:30-31). D. The words of the Lord will be the standard of judgment (Jn. 12:48). IV. The Material Universe Will be Destroyed A. Jesus said it would pass a way (Mt.24:35).. B. Peter tells us how (2 Pet.3:lO-l2). V. Punishment For The Sinners. A. For those who do not know God and for those who have not obeyed be gospel (2 Thess. 1:1:7-9). B. Notice the terms used to describe what they will ex- perience (Rom. 2:5-9). C. Rev. 20:15; 21:8 tells of those who will be cast into the lake of fire. VI. Eternity will continue. A. While time as we know it will end (as discussed in point one), eternity goes on forever and ever and ever. B. So the state of the wicked and righteous are both described as being forever and ever. 1. Wicked (Rev. 14:9-11; Matt. 25:46). 2. Righteous (Mt.25:46; Rev. 22:5). VII. The Triumph of the Saints. A. Our hope will be realized (1 Thess. 4:13-I8). B. What a glorious experience (Rev. 21:1-4)! Conclusion: A. If that trumpet were to sound now, would you be ready? B. Song: "There's a Great Day Coming." (By Ronny Milliner, in Guardian of Truth, May 21, 1987,pg. 12).

Universal Judgment EVERYONE…Small and Great… And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. The Last Trumpet The End of Time… Resurrection of the Dead… Universal Judgment… Material Universe will be destroyed… IV. The Material Universe Will be Destroyed

Universe Destroyed Jesus said it would be… Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. (Mat 24:35) IV. The Material Universe Will be Destroyed A. Jesus said it would pass a way (Mt.24:35)..

Universe Destroyed Peter tells us how… But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up… the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? (2Pe 3:10-12) B. Peter tells us how (2 Pet.3:l0-l2). A. The Last Trumpet The End of Time… Resurrection of the Dead… Universal Judgment… Material Universe will be destroyed… Only Eternity will remain… V. Only Eternity will remain…

Eternity Punishment for sinners… and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, (2Th 1:7-9) V. Punishment For The Sinners. A. For those who do not know God and for those who have not obeyed be gospel (2 Thess. 1:1:7-9). Away from God and from any good influence…in the Lake of fire…

Eternity In the Lake of Fire (second death)… And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. (Rev 20:15) But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." (Rev 21:8) C. Rev. 20:15; 21:8 tells of those who will be cast into the lake of fire. VI. Eternity will continue. A. While time as we know it will end (as discussed in point one), eternity goes on forever and ever and ever. B. So the state of the wicked and righteous are both described as being forever and ever. 1. Eternity Triumph of the righteous… And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." (Mat 25:46) VII. The Triumph of the Saints. A.
