Communication Methods of communication: The student planner There are a number of ways we can stay in touch throughout the year. I attempt to keep in constant contact, so don’t be surprised if you’re hearing from me often. Sign on to Receive Text Messages from Me REMIND is a one way messaging tool I use to alert parents to upcoming school/classroom happenings There is a flyer on the counter by the sink OR, just get on your phone right now and do the following: text the message @92b45 to the number 81010

Online Grades Please make it a habit to check your child’s grades once a week. We do our best to update them regularly. The more closely you stay on top of the grades, the more the kids will as well . . . And it prevents nasty surprises!

Wordly Wise Our weekly vocabulary program Most every week the students will be working on a new list of 15 words Daily work is required and plenty of class time is allotted A multiple choice test is given after each lesson Studying the words and their definitions is a must!

Behavior Expectations Following the basic school and classroom rules is expected Respect for the teacher AND for one another Warnings are often given Sometime choices are made by students that bypass the “step system” and move right on to the office Steps: 1. Warning 2. Discussion/Parent Contact/Recess Detention 3. Discussion/Parent Contact/Lunch Detention 4. Office Referral (Admin Decision)

Class Dojo Positive behavior/participation/on task/excellent team work can be rewarded through Dojo Students earn points Reward benchmarks for every 10 points earned

Physical Education Start with 100 points Excellent effort + Positive attitude + Proper shoes = Excellent Grade Fridays are mile run days PE excuse short term, parent note is required PE excuse longer than 3 days requires Dr. note

iPad Expectations Student needs iPad each and every day Fully Charged Cleaning of screen suggested once/week Appropriate usage expected at all times
