Eritrean-Ethiopian War The Eritrean-Ethiopian War lasted for 30 years (1961-1991) Mengitsu Mariam was a high ranked officer which lead the Mengitsu government into a more militaristic state. Web. 14 Apr. 2012. http://ethiopiancivilwar.blogspot.com/.

Conclusion 1 We think that the war is related to the story because Mawi’s family needed to come to America due to the affects this war had on them.

Poverty Between 1980 and 2006, the poverty rate among blacks fell from 32 percent to 24 percent (prb.org) In the south poverty levels are expected to drop because of Improvement of in Employment Growth in large metropolitan areas

Poverty Graphs in the U.S. Mather, Mark. "U.S. Racial/Ethnic and Regional Poverty Rates Converge, but Kids Are Still Left Behind." - Population Reference Bureau. 2012. Web. 14 Apr. 2012. http://www.prb.org/Articles/2007/USRacialEthnicAndRegionalPoverty.aspx.
